2025年12月24日
理查德在今天上班打卡的时候被告知，他在圣诞节假期的前一天被特异事故处开除了。
他知道，身为后勤部长的自己绝不可能无缘无故的被开除，因而他走向了一处在楼内略显偏僻的办公室————那个房间属于他实际上的长官，也是特异事故处中名义上不存在却又无处不在的那个人。
探员们一般称呼他为：史密斯专员。

理查德来到那扇门前，仰头叹了口气，随后像以往无数次那样叩响了它。
“理查德？请进。”
理查德听到的是一种毫无特色的声音，几乎可以出现在任何一位资产过千万的年长白人男性政府官员身上。推开门，眼前的办公室仅有一张桌子，一把椅子和一个沙发，一位容貌普通，穿着黑色西装的白人男性正坐在电脑前办公————正是史密斯专员，其见到理查德到来便盖上了笔记本电脑，饶有兴致的挥手示意理查德去沙发那边坐着。
但理查德没有遵从他的想法，只是问了一个问题：“我为什么会被开除？你想做什么？“

理查德很清楚，史密斯不可能无缘无故将他开除，但他没想到……
“从圣诞假期之后，你就可以来这个办公室工作了。你将替代我成为下一位史密斯专员。”

一辆老旧的丰田行驶在南弗罗里达的路上，枯响的引擎声不断冲击着理查德的耳膜，让向来冷静的他感到一丝烦躁。身为史密斯专员手底下最受重视的文职，他不是没有想过自己可能在某个年终的聚会上被提拔，又或是依靠一些不正当的手段将史密斯专员斗下去……

“我真的成为史密斯专员了吗？”他对自己问道。
他想到了经由他手流向黑市来源不明的器官，想到了那些从黑市低价淘来又发给探员们的老式枪械，想到了那一张张发向白宫用以骗取经费的假文档————而自己将要接过自己身侧人的担子，继承那些见不得人的下作生意，和自己以前曾未有过资格打交道的大人物磋商……如此一想，似乎还不如直接被开除来的痛快。
然而一想到那些被解雇的探员的下场，他感到一股恶寒，自己可是还有妻儿老小。

理查德不敢再多想，于是转头询问正在开车的史密斯专员：“我们这是要去哪里？”
“小哈瓦那，带你去见两个人，如果我没算错时间的话应该是刚刚好到。”
史密斯专员依然是以往的平静样子，在沉默了一会过后，又补上一句：“你升职之后要学的东西很多，我会把你应该接触的人物一一介绍给你……就从今天开始。”
“那就好。”理查德松了口气，还好史密斯专员有点良心，没有让他独自去面对那错综复杂的利益网络。
但他又开始疑惑，在小哈瓦那的关系网会是什么？当地的黑帮头目，线人头目，又或者是…古巴异常部的人？

他不得其解，因而接着询问史密斯：“我们要见的是什么人？”
从史密斯专员口中又吐出一个令他震惊的真相：“俄国人，更准确的说，是格鲁乌P。”
“？特异事故处和他们不是宿敌吗？”他震惊的看向面前从冷战时期走出来的上司：“别告诉我从冷战的时候你就…”

史密斯专员久违的笑了，他将车在路边停下后开始给理查德慢慢讲解：“我想你还不明白，正是因为特异事故处和格鲁乌P互为宿敌，我们才有利可图，双方互相搞到一些对方搞不到的东西，然后背着上头进行交易…这当然不会损坏国家利益——不然冷战就该是俄国佬赢了；在这个基础上，还能捞到一大笔钱。“
“你要接触的很大一部分关系网都是类似的情况…而处理好他们就是你的工作，至于能赚多少就看你的本事了。“

理查德在今天第二次深深的叹了一口气，他本以为和黑帮交易已经是极限了，但他现在希望自己的想象力更丰富一点。

出乎意料的是，交易本身相当的平平无奇——甚至可以说有点无聊。
史密斯专员带理查德进了小哈瓦那之后，直接熟练的在繁杂的小巷子里拐了七八个弯，最后走进了一座破旧的小酒馆。而在小酒馆里面等着的是一个完美符合理查德所有刻板印象的俄国人…

理查德再回过神来时，他已经喝了一瓶伏特加倒在沙发上无法动弹了，仅能偶尔听到旁边传来的几句低语。
“……从黑市上淘来的土质现实稳定锚，很大且不安全……古巴佬造的……”
“……你要多少？这价格简直荒谬！就算我们是几十年的老交情也不能这么要价……”
“……那说好了，合作愉快，以后多担待我徒弟，货你们直接去这班货轮拿……”
“……我们的特工会发起一场破坏行动，能捞多少看你徒弟本事了……”
再然后，声音猛地被放大了。
“理查德！醒醒，事情谈好了，我们走吧。“

听到史密斯专员声音的理查德缓缓睁开眼睛，看见面前站着一个穿着黑色西装的白人男子和一个穿着苏联军装的俄国人正在关切的看着自己。
…真的会有人穿的这么刻板印象吗？理查德自内心发问。

“身为史密斯专员的第一件事就是不要在谈判的时候让人给你灌醉了…“
回程的路上，理查德一边望着路边的夜色一边借着酒力迷迷糊糊的说到：“所以那个接头人…真的就穿成那样过来了？不怕被人认出来吗？“
“……”史密斯专员沉默了一会，然后回应道：“干这一行，你是谁其实不重要，你身后代表的是谁其实更重要，我要告诉你的是，他其实是一个墨西哥人，那套军装和外表都是欺骗性的伪装。”

“他只需要告诉我们他代表了格鲁乌P就行了？”理查德无力的拍了拍自己的脸颊后略微思考了一下，得到了这个结论。
“以后这种类似的事情你还要学很多————”
史密斯的话语被理查德醉醺醺的戏谑打断了：“那你呢？你西装下又是什么面孔？你不会是个犹太人吧？嗯？”
“……”

在后续的车程中，两人没有说话，史密斯默默开车，理查德则是昏沉的睡去。

2026年1月1日
今天是史密斯上班的第一天。
他望着前任给自己留下来的巨大烂摊子而开始汗流浃背——本应送往五芒星进行逆向科技研究的土质现实稳定锚被格鲁乌P部门截胡了。不仅如此，在前任离开前，还批准了一个创收项目，格鲁乌P连那个项目都一并破坏，导致整个特异事故处的资金已经窘迫到不能再窘迫了。

唯一留下的好消息是，他发现桌子上摆着一副西装，他穿上之后发现自己变成了一个穿着黑色西装的白人男子。
“我就知道，那个老混蛋肯定不长这个样子…”在镜子前打量完自己的模样后，史密斯开始思考对策。

如果处理不好，自己恐怕要被五芒星砍成臊子，或是给不出工资被探员们砍成臊子。

好在，只要预算申请还有一丝空隙，自己便还有存活的机会，他为特异事故处奋斗了这么多年，没理由倒在新工作的第一天。他传唤负责项目安保的探员，让手下文员伪造损失数额，联系五芒星高官参加晚宴赔礼道歉……

史密斯不知道自己做了多少事，但还好，当尘埃落地，他依然是史密斯专员。
